MAC Moody Blooms collection: Black Ivy fluidline look

MAC's latest collection Moody Blooms arrived in the UK last week, and I must say it's gorgeous. Blooming gorgeous, in fact. (Ha.) Unlike the Fantasy of Flowers collection released in January which was full of sweet feminine pinks and soft yellowy greens, Moody Blooms is exactly that. Moody, dark sensual shades that would definitely not be out of place in Poison Ivy's makeup bag.

Described by MAC as "Exotic, night-blooming flowers with a hint of danger inspire a hothouse of seductive shades. Sensual colours shroud eyes in earthy metallic Eye Shadows and lips suggest hidden motives with deep blue plum and dark berry hues of Sheen Supreme Lipstick. Bronze Powder Blush provides a final adrenaline surge before these beauties dissolve into the night."

Hint of danger, ooh err! I must say that I really liked the pieces in this collection. The colors remind me of Indulge collection from last Fall, which I hauled BIG time from!

Today I have created a look using Black Ivy fluidline and three of the eyeshadows from this collection. Have a look at Black Ivy in the pot:-

Black Ivy is the most perfect blackened teal eyeliner! The only other product I have that's similar is MAC Siahi fluidline, but that's lighter and bluer than Black Ivy. Black Ivy is pure love, and its most definitely worth getting a back up of it for your makeup stash!

MAC Moody Blooms

That's Black Ivy lining both upper and lower lash lines. I buffed the lower line out with Green Room eyeshadow, and then buffed that out with Lucky Green eyeshadow. (Lucky Green is also permanent, so you can pick it up anytime!) On the top lid I used Stars n Rockets eyeshadow with Hidden Motive in the crease and outer corner. I already had Stars n Rockets in my kit, which is a dupe for Blooming Mad, an eyeshadow released in this collection. I always try and find dupes for MAC limited edition products, both in the MAC permanent range and other brands, because I know that if I fall in love with something, I won't be able to buy it again. MAC does sometimes re promote limited edition items, but its seldom something that I want! Toxic Tale please, MAC?!? Pretty please!

Did you pick up anything from Moody Blooms? What MAC products would you like to see re-promoted?

MAC Art of the Eye Collection: Hajar Karim and Parrot eyeshadow

MAC have done it again, and released an irresistible collection to covet!

Introducing MAC Art of the Eye collection...

"M∙A∙C unveils a luxurious colour collection where eyes are the fascinating focus. From exotic smoky looks to grand statements. Two Eye Shadow X 4 palettes blend beautifully while Eye Shadow singles add vibrant highlights. Lining is legendary - dramatic Kohl Power Eye Pencil sweeps into a wide wing, while Fluidline Brow Gelcreme creates an elegant arch."

Yeah, it was the "vibrant" eyeshadow singles that caught this beauty buzzard's eye! I mean, look at the collection's graphic:

That's what I call COLOUR! I have been looking forward for MAC to do a collection like this for a while now. Personally, I have been buying some great lip products from MAC's collections this year, but hardly any eye products. I'm not going to lie, I bought all five single eyeshadows from this collection.

Here are Parrot and Hajar Karim, for your viewing pleasure!

Parrot- a deep aqua blue frost with blue shimmer.

Hajar Karim- a bright green with yellow undertones.

Man, these eyeshadows are bright, despite the sunny day that you can see in my pictures!

The formula on both eyeshadows was very good. Both were nice and soft texture wise, and built up well. I did need to pack on Hajar Karim a little bit, but that's mainly because I wanted a really bold look!

Here is the look I created with these shadows:

Other products used:- Katy Perry by Eylure Color Pop Lashes in Ka-Ching, Urban Decay eyeliner in Zero, and Barry M Metallic Liquid Eyeliner in shade 3.

Have you tried any of the MAC Art of the Eye collection? Let me know!

31 Day Challenge: Day 17- Glitter Nails

Yippee! I LOVE glitter nails, and when I saw that there was a glitter day to the challenge, I knew straight away which sparkler I wanted to feature! Behold...

Sea Lore's Ariel layered over China Glaze's Aquadelic.

Sea Lore is an indie polish company, headed by Jamie Lohr. There is only seven polishes by Sea Lore at the moment, forming the King Triton's Daughters collection. I wanted all seven polishes, but my bank account simply wouldn't stretch that far, so I picked Ariel. 'Cos y'know, The Little Mermaid was all about Ariel. Man alive, I loved that film! I can remember owning it on VHS and everything. I even wished I had long red hair exactly like Ariel's..

Anyway, childhood reminsicing aside, Ariel polish is a light aqua green jelly with small glass fleck shimmer. It has small circular green glitter, purple hexagonal glitter, and red square glitter. Thats a whole lotta glitter. I wanted to give the glitter a punchy base, so I picked my favourite China Glaze polish, Aquadelic as Ariel's base. They work really well together, as you can see!

And on a separate note, today was a very special day, as my little daughter had her first birthday! Today has been non-stop packed with fun, presents, balloons and cake, but now my sugar high is wearing off, and I'm writing this post with just one eye open. As a parting note, here is a picture of the birthday girl!

What a cutie pie!
