Kleenex comes clean: The new facial care range from tissue company

We all know that Kleenex make the best tissues. Many a time have we needed to reach for a box of Kleenex Balsam. So when I saw that the tissue company had launched a new facial skin care range, I knew I would have to get some!

What first attracted me was the packaging...

Cute packaging, right? The top box are the Cotton Touch Facial Cloths, then the Extra Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes, the Sensitive Eye Make Up Removal Wipes and finally, the Powder Free Shine Absorbing Sheets.

I tested all four of these today, when I returned home from a day of shopping in the city. I had a reasonable amount of make up on- foundation, bronzer, lip gloss; and on the eyes mascara (non-waterproof), and gel eyeliner.

First up to the trial was:-

The shine absorbing sheets.
I must admit, these were the product that I was most interested in trying, as I get a rather oily T Zone, and by about two o clock the oiliness in my skin just eats away at my foundation! When I opened the packet, I was greeted by this:-

How pretty are these?! Lovin' the purple :)

Of course, the real test was the removal of shine from my skin, without the removal of my make up. And, these little sheets did not fail my expectations. They removed all the shine from my T Zone (especially impressive on the nose), and only removed the tiniest amount of my foundation. If I were completely picky, I may want to then re-touch up my powder, but for a quick fix, these were amazing. They would be especially good on a night out, when you don't want the hassle of taking pressed/loose powder out in your handbag (for fear of breakaged/spillages!)

Second up to the post were:-

The eye make up removal wipes.

I've never tried wipes specifically designed for the removal of eye make up. If I'm at home I do a proper job with liquid and cotton wool, or if I'm on the hop, I'll use general face wipes (and they're normally terrible at removing eye make up!). So, with a sceptic mind, I pitted a wipe against my mascara and eyeliner. And.... not bad!!! Not bad at all! These wipes removed the main bulk of my eye make up, with only the tiniest trace of eyeliner left behind. Moreover, these were senisitive on my eyes, didn't smell, and didn't leave any residue on my skin. Success!

The extra gentle facial wipes.

Are you like me, and in general find facial wipes pretty awful at removing make up, scratching your skin, smelling awful, and leaving a residue? Well, give these a try- you will change your mind about face wipes. These wipes are GORGEOUS. The texture of these was like a hug on my skin. The surface of the wipe was quilted and supersoft. There was no real smell to the wipe, and no residue was left on myskin. Moreover, these didn't dry my skin out, like some wipes that I've tried can. The real clinching factor was of course, did they remove my foundation? Yes, they did! All of it. Then, I even used these to remove the trace of eyeliner left over from the make up remover wipe.

The cotton touch facial cloths.

Here's what they look like.

I tried these last to see how well they worked with my No 7 Radiance Boosting Cleanser, which I normally use with a muslin cloth, and also to see whether or not the facial wipes had really removed all of my foundation.

These felt super soft, and when I used them wet with my cleanser, they didn't fall apart (kinda like kitchen roll does when its wet). They worked well with my cleanser, feeling great on the skin, and giving it a really good wash. I noticed at this point that the facial wipes had done an exceptional job beforehand- there was only the merest tint of foundation coming off on the cloth when I cleansed my skin with them.

That said, would I say these did a different job to my usual muslin cloth? Not really. Yes, they did feel nicer on the skin than a muslin cloth, but then you have to bear in mind that a muslin cloth helps to exfoliate the skin. And the biggest factor for me was that these are obviously not reusable, unlike a muslin which you can pop in the wash. So these have to go in the bin, creating waste. Sad face right here --- :(

However, Kleenex must have anticipated my thought train, because...

Both the wipes (face and eye) and the facial cloths are all made with ecoform natural fibres, made with 65% cellulose, so that they have less of an impact on the environment. I'm no science boffin, but I'm guessing (and hoping) that this means that they are easily biodegradable, and will be gone from the landfill in a couple of years!

Another interesting thing on the face wipe and the eye make up remover wipes was the list of ingredients. Here, have a look:-

Can you see that Kleenex have included explanations of all the ingredients used in the wipes? So, when you see all these weird chemical names and thing What the.....?!?! at least you kinda know why they're there.

I was really impressed by how much this range helped to clean my skin, the facial wipes in particular were gorgeous, and while they didn't make removing my make up fun, they certainly mase it easier and quicker. If I was away from home and all my lovely products, I would definately be packing these.

I shall also be purchasing the shine removing wipes, as they're beautiful, lightweight, and help to mop up shine without removing my foundation. Definately a handbag staple from now on!

I would not buy the facial cloths again, for the simple reason that my muslin cloth does all that these do, and I can just re wash and use it again and again. Don't get me wrong, the cloths are beautiful and soft, just a bit of an uneccesary, albeit luxurious expense.
